EJ Dionne is plain stupid!

This piece of drivel is almost unbelievable in its' stupidity, lack of grasp of reality and rigid adherence to leftist, Democratic dogma. As the vast readership of my blog will quickly reach the same conclusions, I won't go into detail except on two points. First, how much clearer can one get than 'the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.' People, the people, we the people. We are the people of the United States, not a militia, but people, citizens. Secondly, the sheer stupidity of his statement that the DC gun ban law was enacted to prevent murder. Testimony to the effectiveness of the law was made about 3 weeks ago when 5 (or maybe 7?) DC residents were killed by gun violence in a 6 hour period. They were not law abiding citizens, but criminals, with guns. Imagine that, criminals with guns! But how can criminals get their grimy paws on guns when there is a law supposedly preventing this? Because they are criminals and they obtain guns through illegal channels. My guns have all been purchased legally and are used for legal purposes, one of which is self, family and home defense. This guy should be banned from writing by his peers because he is so stupid but then again, the majority of his peers in the MSM are stupid as well.

Quick update- I was in Germany for 3 weeks, worked for 2 weeks, then had minor foot surgery with a small blood clot as a complication. But now I am back!

Bill Cosby speaks the hard truth

Bill Cosby seems to know most of the truth about how the African-American community in the U.S. can redeem itself. Ironically, what racial/ethnic group in the U.S. does not suffer from some malady? Whites have the stigma of being incessantly racist, and of being white trash and greedy and power hungry. Asians have gangs and math. Hispanics are seen as illegal, whether they are or not, and of working exclusively in manual labor or the service industry, plus gangs. I think the author is biased against Cosby, primarily because he is speaking the hard truth about how to bypass racism and focus on success instead of handouts. He is young and successful so probably hasn't faced much of the alleged racism that Cosby and others of his generation faced. I have many black friends who are successful, and their families are successful. How? They work hard, they don't commit crimes and they have solid core values they teach to their children, investing another generation with the same values. It's really very simple.

Oil and why we should drill

GOOD article about how liberal congressmen are so focused on 'windfall' oil profits they cannot see how much more money the oil companies spend on foreign oil. The lefty liberals also prevent us from drilling to protect the environment, like our drilling technology is still from the 1800's, when we have organic oil reserves that could free us from foreign dependence for 15 years (longer in the case of Venezuela). Granted, I am sure there is some sort of lobbying going on that makes Saudi oil more lucrative for some. I am a big supporter of nuclear energy as well. Like drilling, nuke energy technology has made great advances since 3 Mile Island (and I was living in PA at the time of that event, and my father was working in Harrisburg that day).

Bitter, angry and stupid to boot!

This article is pathetic, disturbing and yet strangely satisfying, all at the same time. It's quite obvious the left (I refuse to capitalize the 'l' in left, they don't rate) is blind with rage that their great change agent and transcendent candidate, Obama, is rapidly doing the death spiral. With his true nature coming out every other day, in his words, past deeds and relationships with leftist, racist radicals, the average joe who once thought, incorrectly, 'Gee, maybe we can have a black president who won't pull the race card!' is now seeing him for what he is - a radical leftist who wants to take money from the rich, give it to the poor, nationalize everything he can and force the government into every aspect of American life possible. He is the anti-liberty and freedom candidate, much more than Clinton. I absolutely love it! So, instead of looking inward at their failed theories and policies, and their failed candidate, the lash out, like the dude in that 'Leave Britney Alone!' youtube video - incoherent, unintelligible and immature. And I thought I was just angry and bitter and clinging to guns, religion and anti-immigration and racist feelings (all of which I fully support!). Now I am stupid too! Join the club idiot, and welcome to Hell!

Who's Angry?

This commentary has finally pushed me to get back to this blog, which has been dormant for over 3 months. I am not angry. My wife is not angry. Most of the folks I work with, and know personally as friends and neighbors, aren't angry. The bottom line is most rational people do not expect the economy to grow at 10% year after year. In the globalized marketplace today, so many other external factors affect our economy. However, we as a country continue to shoot ourselves in the foot and ignore history by calling for government to bail us out. Why can't we help ourselves? We bought a house about 16 months ago, which is the time when all the current foreclosures were buying as well. We are making our payments and have no worries. Why? We didn't buy a huge house that we couldn't afford without 'creative' (i.e. easy) financing. We put a large down payment on our house (provided thanks to my tax-free service in Iraq! Why can't someone study how servicemen benefit financially form their service?) and received a standard ARM. We weren't blinded by flipper greed. We wanted an affordable house in a stable neighborhood where we can raise our kids and live for a long time. Mission accomplished. We very easily could have purchased a larger home in a nicer neighborhood but would have been 'house poor.' I have very little sympathy for those who bought a house outside their means and are not being foreclosed.

Who is McGovern???

Dumb

So, has George McGovern suddenly awoken from a long slumber induced by a life time of losing and tired, old viewpoints on life and the world? Apparently so because this op ed of his drags out all the tired, old arguments to impeach the Evil Bush-Cheney Duo of Destruction. I would be willing to listen to real, fact-based arguments for impeachment if any could be found. Instead, McGovern, like every other tired, old leftist loser - Carter, Reid, any number of leftist blogs... - lists: the 'illegal' Iraq invasion (despite Congressional approval, yet I don't see calls for Congressional resignations), the Patriot Act (again, approve twice by Congress, yet no calls for resignations) and the Valhalla of leftist theory, Guantanamo Bay. Does no one see that Al Qeada does not have 'citizens' in it's ranks and non-citizens do not enjoy the same civil rights as we do? When you pledge allegiance to a non-state group whose prime directive is establishment of a global islamic caliphate and forced conversion of the world and/or death, me thinks you give up any right to any state-sponsored civil proceedings. Further, in my opinion, if you are a card-carrying member of AQ, there should be ROE to shoot on site, not detain. Obviously detention would be preferred to suck as much info and intel out of them as possible, but sometimes death is the preferred method. I predict of the 3 or 4 people besides me who read McGovern's piece, 1 will agree (probably Jimmy Carter), 1 will die laughing and 2 will just turn the page while asking, "Who is George McGovern?"

What is a blog?

Before a month goes by, I need to find the truth as it relates to blogs. I have started and stopped a few blogs over the past years and I can't figure out why I lose the passion and excitement after a few months of blogging. Maybe the fact that I am not getting paid to do this and I have a lot of other outlets for my time, and the fact that nobody reads my posts. I read a few other blogs regularly and the style and substance of posts varies greatly. Some are analytical on the topic of the day, others are related to personal experience and others are just there. It seems like blogs and the act of blogging are just the technological extension of the personal diary, albeit some with a twist. I kept a diary/journal during my year in Iraq but I had no desire to share that with anybody. It was more therapeutic for me, a space to write down frustrations and observations and maybe come up with some remedies. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about most domestic and world events but who the hell cares what I think? So, here's my post on my blog and I can say whatever I want because no one is going to read it.

Kimora Lee Whore

What is the fascination with hags of oriental descent who have whored their way to the supposed top? Case in point is the TV show about Kimora Lee Simmons, ex-wife to Russell Simmons, who made his money in the hip-hop industry. He made his money the old fashioned way, he earned it. I don't agree with the industry but he leveraged the principles of capitalism and made a small fortune. Enter the oriental whore, who may have been attractive in her better - young - days, marginally enough so to snare the interests of Mr. Simmons. I will wager that she saw dollar signs, did what she thought necessary to get his cash - sleep with him enough to marry him and have two kids - then made her exit. Now she has a show dedicated to her whore-ishness, loosely based on her fashion company. The most recent edition of this show, which I watch to remind myself how lucky I am to have dropped the oriental whore and found a Caucasian woman of Italian descent, deals with her new line of children's clothes, which are inspired by her own two daughters. Here is where I take issue with the myth that oriental mothers are so caring and doting on their children. Maybe back in the rice patties they are but not once they have tasted the largess of the West. They feign this public image of doting, loving mothers but it is done in a purely public, superficial manner. Beneath the thin veneer is the truth of controlling, micro-managerial motherhood. They must absolutely have a hand or finger in EVERYTHING their allegedly precious children do, until the children do something to embarrass them. Maybe this is some sort of strange cousin to the 'losing face' doctrine that most people understand of oriental cultures? My personal example is my hag ex-wife, who is filipino. She claims to everyone, over and over, that her number one priority is her children, which plays great to her dumb friends who don't know any better (I could easily fill pages on how stupid most white women are as well, but that's for another day), but in reality, as long as her children are doing well, she is happy and proud. Mess something up, however, and you see the real story. My middle daughter plays soccer, and pretty well too. She was playing goalie recently, and missed blocking a shot. Her mother then did the rolley-eyed, arms up in the air "I can't believe you missed that" maneuver on the sidelines, making her feel like shit. Great parenting you effing oriental piece of filth! I wish her harm more than islamic fundamentalists; at least they are an enemy to be respected. So, beware America! Whorientals are out to suck up as much money as possible from unsuspecting white, western males. Stay away, stay far away!

What will the dems do now?

Here is an excellent article by Victor Davis Hanson, a classics professor from CA who is a prolific writer about ancient warfare and ties to current wars and how we fight. It's almost too good to be true, that those liberal dems who voted for a quick successful campaign to topple the bad man Saddam, who then turned on the President and the troops and declared defeat, are now searching for a politically expedient way to explain the decrease in violence, the Anbar Awakening and the political progress in the Iraqi government (granted slow but progress is progress). I try not to be an "I told you so" type of person (okay okay, not all the time), and I certainly was not on TV steadfastly proclaiming all this was going to transpire but I did have faith that if we could withstand the democratic anti-war onslaught and gain some success, the American people would either lean towards support or not be as against the war, feeding more 'breathing room' and giving our commanders flexibility and not telling the Iraqi people, the rest of the Middle East and every anti-American terrorist that we are weak and not willing to bleed for what we feel is necessary for victory in our battles.

Things I give thanks for...

Happy Thanksgiving! Today was a beautiful day in northern Virginia, temps in the 70s and sunny. It was the perfect setting for some reflection on the many blessings in my life, which sometimes I take for granted. My family - my beautiful wife/best friend and 3 great kids, my siblings and parents and extended family members and true friends. The comfortable house we are fortunate to live in, in a great, safe neighborhood with cool neighbors. My career in the Marine Corps and all that has taught me and done for me and my second career as a federal civilian supporting national defense. My physical and mental health. Beer, guns and my God-given right to own and carry them to defend myself, my family and my property, bicycles, running shoes, coffee, Fox News, Opie and Anthony, music, books, National Review, XC70s and dirty martinis. This is just a small list of the things in life that are blessings, some vital to my existence and others that add joy and entertainment. I hope anyone who may read this has as blessed a life as I do.
