Bill Cosby speaks the hard truth
Bill Cosby seems to know most of the truth about how the African-American community in the U.S. can redeem itself. Ironically, what racial/ethnic group in the U.S. does not suffer from some malady? Whites have the stigma of being incessantly racist, and of being white trash and greedy and power hungry. Asians have gangs and math. Hispanics are seen as illegal, whether they are or not, and of working exclusively in manual labor or the service industry, plus gangs. I think the author is biased against Cosby, primarily because he is speaking the hard truth about how to bypass racism and focus on success instead of handouts. He is young and successful so probably hasn't faced much of the alleged racism that Cosby and others of his generation faced. I have many black friends who are successful, and their families are successful. How? They work hard, they don't commit crimes and they have solid core values they teach to their children, investing another generation with the same values. It's really very simple.

Oil and why we should drill
GOOD article about how liberal congressmen are so focused on 'windfall' oil profits they cannot see how much more money the oil companies spend on foreign oil. The lefty liberals also prevent us from drilling to protect the environment, like our drilling technology is still from the 1800's, when we have organic oil reserves that could free us from foreign dependence for 15 years (longer in the case of Venezuela). Granted, I am sure there is some sort of lobbying going on that makes Saudi oil more lucrative for some. I am a big supporter of nuclear energy as well. Like drilling, nuke energy technology has made great advances since 3 Mile Island (and I was living in PA at the time of that event, and my father was working in Harrisburg that day).

Bitter, angry and stupid to boot!
This article is pathetic, disturbing and yet strangely satisfying, all at the same time. It's quite obvious the left (I refuse to capitalize the 'l' in left, they don't rate) is blind with rage that their great change agent and transcendent candidate, Obama, is rapidly doing the death spiral. With his true nature coming out every other day, in his words, past deeds and relationships with leftist, racist radicals, the average joe who once thought, incorrectly, 'Gee, maybe we can have a black president who won't pull the race card!' is now seeing him for what he is - a radical leftist who wants to take money from the rich, give it to the poor, nationalize everything he can and force the government into every aspect of American life possible. He is the anti-liberty and freedom candidate, much more than Clinton. I absolutely love it! So, instead of looking inward at their failed theories and policies, and their failed candidate, the lash out, like the dude in that 'Leave Britney Alone!' youtube video - incoherent, unintelligible and immature. And I thought I was just angry and bitter and clinging to guns, religion and anti-immigration and racist feelings (all of which I fully support!). Now I am stupid too! Join the club idiot, and welcome to Hell!

Who's Angry?
This commentary has finally pushed me to get back to this blog, which has been dormant for over 3 months. I am not angry. My wife is not angry. Most of the folks I work with, and know personally as friends and neighbors, aren't angry. The bottom line is most rational people do not expect the economy to grow at 10% year after year. In the globalized marketplace today, so many other external factors affect our economy. However, we as a country continue to shoot ourselves in the foot and ignore history by calling for government to bail us out. Why can't we help ourselves? We bought a house about 16 months ago, which is the time when all the current foreclosures were buying as well. We are making our payments and have no worries. Why? We didn't buy a huge house that we couldn't afford without 'creative' (i.e. easy) financing. We put a large down payment on our house (provided thanks to my tax-free service in Iraq! Why can't someone study how servicemen benefit financially form their service?) and received a standard ARM. We weren't blinded by flipper greed. We wanted an affordable house in a stable neighborhood where we can raise our kids and live for a long time. Mission accomplished. We very easily could have purchased a larger home in a nicer neighborhood but would have been 'house poor.' I have very little sympathy for those who bought a house outside their means and are not being foreclosed.
